Located in the Outer Rim Territories, Rothana was an arctic planet that managed to have rich soil. While it was located in the Outer Rim, it was also a part of the Slice, a region of the galaxy that was heavily traversed and became technologically advanced compared to other regions of the galaxy. Rothana, while cold, served as a shipyard for creating starships and vehicles to wander across the terrain. 

History/Background Body Paragraph:

Near 800 BBY, the entire planet was controlled by the Kuat Drive Yards, an automotive company that was originally established on Kuat. However, they had expanded and bought the entire planet of Rothana. The manufacturers of Rothana worked alongside the Galactic Republic and created machines for them. Around 32 BBY, the Republic was creating a clone army on Kamino for the uprising Separatists and the Sith coming into play. Rothana was near Kamino, and so the Kaminoan government commissioned the usage of the Kuat Drive Yards on Rothana. The first ship created was the Acclamator, an assault ship built under Project Icefang. Many ships were created on Rothana and were used in the wars in the coming years.

By 24 BBY, just before the Clone Wars began, the Kuat Drive Yards formed an official alliance with the Galactic Republic, going against the Separatists. By the time of the Clone Wars, the vast majority of the ships present had been constructed by the Rothana Heavy Engineering corporation. By the end of the war in 19 BBY, the Kuat Drive Yards had a monopoly over the production of ships, as they were the most efficient and useful at creating ships. When the Galactic Empire overtook the Republic, the Kuat Drive Yards continued their work as they were their mainstream source of income.
