In the latter years of the Jedi Order, Depa Billaba, a female human native of Chalacta who was sensitive to the Force, was a member of the Jedi High Council and a Jedi Master. She was raised by Jedi Master Mace Windu after joining the Order at an early age. She was born on Chalacta. Billaba was present when Jedi Master Qui-Gon Jinn introduced Anakin Skywalker, the Chosen One, to the Council after Billaba was later appointed to the Council alongside her former instructor. Later, after the Jedi Master was slain in the Battle of Naboo, she went to Jinn's funeral.

Throughout the political unrest that preceded the Clone Wars, a galactic civil war between the Galactic Republic and the Confederacy of Independent Systems, Billaba remained a member of the Council. She adopted Caleb Dume as her Padawan trainee throughout the conflict. Following the Conquest of Kaller, Order 66—a covert procedure designating all Jedi as state enemies—was put into effect, and Billaba's battalion of clone troopers attacked the two. Dume fled into hiding under the new identity Kanan Jarrus after surviving the Great Jedi Purge as a result of Billaba's sacrifice. He started out traveling stealthily and accepting odd jobs until joining a rebel group that was against the Galactic Empire. Despite the fact that Jarrus pretended to be a Jedi for Years later, he had pleasant memories of his Master. When Jarrus first took in Ezra Bridger as an apprentice, he taught him the Jedi and the Force using only his own unfinished training from Billaba.

History/Background Body Paragraph:

Before the Clone Wars, Depa Billaba was born on the planet Chalacta. She had a sister named Sar Labooda.She was kidnapped as a child and her parents were killed by space pirates. Nevertheless, she was able to send out a signal for help, which was deciphered and rescued by Mace Windu, a Jedi Order member. After Windu deciphered the message and brought Billaba back to the Order.

The warlord Guattako abducted numerous children on Oosalon, and Windu was dispatched to locate and save the missing kids. Windu eventually managed to route Guattako's entire force. Guattako knocked Windu out with his staff during their combat. Guattako was going to slay Windu when he was shot by a youngster. Billaba, Plo Koon, and Qui-Gon Jinn showed up shortly after to provide a hand.

Billaba eventually received a position alongside Windu on the Jedi High Council. She was present in the Jedi Temple's Council Chambers during the Invasion of Naboo when Jinn related how he had met Darth Maul on Tatooine and how he had thought the Sith Lord was trying to kidnap Queen Padmé Amidala of Naboo. Additionally, the Jedi Master disclosed that he had located Anakin Skywalker, a juvenile slave he had let free on the planet's desert, and that he thought the youngster was the Chosen One, chosen to vanquish the Sith and restore harmony to the Force. Despite being dubious about both assertions, the Council decided to put the boy to the test and look into Darth Maul. Although Jinn was pleased by Skywalker's abilities, the Council first denied the boy's desire to join the Jedi Order, citing Skywalker's age as a barrier to Jedi training. Instead, they gave the order for Jinn and Obi-Wan Kenobi, his apprentice, to go to Naboo and defend Queen Amidala, who was going back to her planet to repel the Trade Federation invasion.

The fight to reclaim the planet brought an end to the Federation's invasion and occupation. After severely wounding the Sith Lord with a lightsaber before Maul killed Jinn, the former withdrew into exile and was never heard from again for a long time. As she was dying, Jinn requested that Kenobi teach Skywalker how to be a Jedi, and the Council granted her desire. After traveling to Naboo to attend Jinn's burial, Billaba and other Jedi Council members participated in a ceremony

As a member of the Jedi Council, Depa demonstrated her strength as a Jedi Master. As a duelist, she stood out from her peers for favoring Form III in close quarters combat  and was an uncommon master of the Vapaad variant of Form VII, which Mace Windu had taught her.Billaba was an exceptional lightsaber combatant who frequently attempted to impart the skills she had acquired. Dueling skills allowed her to match General Grievous twice, but both times the cyborg prevailed.

She was also a skilled user of the Force. Expert in telekinesis, her manipulation was precise enough to stop a little explosive device from detonating by stopping 

chemical reactions within the bomb. Among her other force abilities were the ability to block laser shots with the Force, see through the Force without using her eyes, and have acute senses that could warn her of disturbances in the Force, like the first wave of Order 66.

In addition, Billaba shown proficiency in both armed and unarmed combat, demonstrated proficiency as a starfighter pilot, demonstrated leadership and strategic acumen, and had pursued studies to become a Consular Jedi while she was a member of the Order.
