General Information Body Paragraph

The Crucible, more commonly known as ‘Selection’, was a Dathomirian tradition mainly for the Nightbrother clan but also for the Nightsisters. The Crucible contained three extremely challenging trials that a Nightbrother would undergo after being selected by a Nightsister to be her servant and partner.

History/Background Body Paragraph

Since all three of these “Selection”s took place in the Dathomirian arena known as the Crucible, that is where the Selection got its second name. As previously stated the Crucible, or Selection, consisted of three difficult trials called the Test of Fury, the Test of Night, and the Test of Elevation. If a Nightbrother were to fail any one of these trials, they would be disqualified from being selected. It was through this process that Asaaj Ventress selected Savage Oppress to be her ‘warrior’.

Additional Information Body Paragraph

As it was previously stated, Selection was also for the Nightsisters not only because they would choose a servant, but because it would show the Nightsisters were ready for Warrior status. In this way, if a Nightbrother were to fail Selection, the affiliated Nightsister would also be eliminated from achieving her status. Finally, success in Selection would result in what Dathomirians called, “a second beginning” and the passers would be assigned to one out of three specializations that include: Shadow Killer, Hunter, and Warrior.
