Article Theme/Topic: The Grand Inquisitor
General Information Body:
The Inquisitorius was entrusted with tracking down Jedi for the Galactic Empire, and its leader was the Grand Inquisitor, a former Jedi Temple Guard turned dark side adept. He was involved in the Clone Wars in the past, and he helped clear Ahsoka Tano after falsely accusing her. He was a key player in the Great Jedi Purge, assisting Darth Sidious and Darth Vader and becoming acquainted with Jedi records. He concentrated on destroying the rebel crew of the Ghost, especially Ezra Bridger, the padawan of Jedi Kanan Jarrus, and himself. After several battles, like combat on Stygeon Prime and Fort Anaxes, the Grand Inquisitor was defeated by Jarrus on a Mustafar rescue operation. Vader bonded his spirit to a Jedi outpost on Tempes, where it continued to haunt the location and, years later, came upon Luke Skywalker.
Background/History Body:
Born on Utapau, the Grand Inquisitor is a male Pau'an who is sensitive to the Force and a former Jedi Knight. He was a member of the Jedi Temple Guard, but he became resentful of Chief Librarian Jocasta Nu for keeping him from learning more advanced Force secrets. Even with his abilities, he thought the Jedi Order was limiting him, and even though he had limited access to the Jedi Archives, he was always watched.
. After enlisting in the Jedi Order, he attained the rank of Jedi Knight and was assigned to the Jedi Temple Guard, which was in charge of defending the Jedi Temple on Coruscant.
The Jedi Temple was bombed during the Clone Wars, when there were demonstrations against the Jedi Council's command in the conflict between the Galactic Republic and the Confederacy of Independent Systems. Ahsoka Tano was expelled from the Jedi Order after Padawan Barriss Offee, who was actually the real offender, set Ahsoka up for the crime. Ahsoka was led out of the temple by guards that included the future Grand Inquisitor. Ahsoka's innocence was eventually shown, but she felt deceived by the Council's lack of faith in her and decided not to rejoin the Jedi Order.
The Grand Inquisitor, corrupted by Sidious and turned to the evil side, managed to withstand Order 66 when Emperor Palpatine assigned Darth Vader the mission of executing the Jedi in the temple. The former Jedi, who had been promised access to the temple archives, rose to the rank of Grand Inquisitor and directed the Imperial Inquisitorius to find any remaining Jedi. He led other fallen Jedi under the direction of Darth Vader and the Emperor, using brutal methods to destroy all traces of the Jedi Order. He gladly adopted Vader's strict training regimen and created his ruthless tactics, including luring survivors with the bones of Jedi Master Luminara Unduli. He also took part in the search for Jedi Master Obi-Wan Kenobi with the Third Sister and Fifth Brother that he commanded.
The Grand Inquisitor committed suicide following his fruitless hunt for Ezra Bridger and Kanan Jarrus. As Ezra and the rebels tortured and imprisoned Jarrus on the Imperial flagship, The Sovereign, they launched a daring rescue attempt. This resulted in the last battle, between Kanan and the Inquisitor. Kanan overcame the Grand Inquisitor by facing his fears and embracing the Force, leaving him dangling from a catwalk over the Star Destroyer's exploding generator. Grand Inquisitor acknowledged that "there are far more frightening things than death" and that he would soon be punished by his Sith lords for his incompetence. He then voluntarily released his clutches, deciding to kill himself rather than endure the agony of going back empty-handed.
Darth Vader kept using the Grand Inquisitor, even after he was killed s. Vader bound the Inquisitor to a Jedi temple from the High Republic era by using the dark side to stop his spirit from reincarnating. The Grand Inquisitor's spirit spent years haunting the temple, serving as a lure for Jedi survivors searching for relics and historical information. The ghost of the Inquisitor was seen by Darth Vader's son Luke Skywalker when he happened to stumble into the temple during the events of The Empire Strikes Back. Skywalker was looking for a new lightsaber. Luke learned from this meeting that following the Jedi path required upholding the Jedi Order's legacy, which ultimately led to the defeat of the ghostly figure of the Inquisitor.
When Darth Vader realized his trap had not succeeded in capturing any Jedi, he decided not to let the Inquisitor's soul go. Rather than freeing him, he abandoned him to suffer in his flaming state indefinitely. The terrible demise of a once-noble Jedi is highlighted by the Grand Inquisitor's ongoing agony, which serves as a reminder that death did not free him from the grip of the dark side.
Additional Information Body Paragraph:
In addition to being a skilled lightsaber fighter, the Grand Inquisitor was also a strong telekinetic. He demonstrated enough telekinetic power to throw his lightsaber with deadly accuracy and push Kanan Jarrus across a hallway. He also showed a keen Force Sense on Empire Day when he pursued Kanan and Ezra Bridger. During the interrogation, Kanan demonstrated his capacity to perhaps force victims into disclosing information or probe their thoughts and emotions by using mind tricks and the mind probe. In addition, the Inquisitor easily parried a lightsaber blow from the Third Sister and used the Force to quickly eliminate her. In addition to his fighting prowess and Force powers, he proved to be a skilled pilot as well, often taking control of a TIE prototype to hunt down rebel targets.
