The Rebel Outpost on Taul was created by the Alliance to Restore the Republic in order to train troops and organize tactics. 

History/Background Body Paragraph:

The outpost was located on top of a steep cliff on the planet, Taul, to minimize possible attacks from the ground. As such, it was only accessible by air, except for one land entrance that was well hidden. It had a full command staff, a generator powering orbital cannons for anti-aircraft defense, and a small fleet of starships for evacuation purposes. Along the perimeter were armed mines to secure the base from any sneak attacks. Even with all these measures, the base was still attacked by the Empire in the year 3 ABY, where it was captured by the Empire using the Star Destroyer “Dominator”. Despite the Alliance fighting bravely, and knowing the area well, the base had to be evacuated. The Dominator chased the surviving Rebel transports out of the system.

Additional Information Body Paragraph:

Because of the acidic atmosphere of Taul’s surface, the Rebels always had to deal with their technology on the base being full of mechanical problems. Thankfully, this atmosphere was not toxic to any organic life.
