Approximately 3653 BBY, Jedi Sages were Jedi Consulars who fought for the Galactic Republic in the Great Galactic War and the Cold War that ensued. Despite the Great Jedi Purge, Jedi Sages continued to be members of the Jedi Order.

History/Background Body Paragraph:
The name "Sage Master," which was formerly used to indicate a Jedi Consular of exceptional ability and knowledge, may have been adapted to refer to specialized Jedi Consulars, as in the case of "Jedi Sage." The subjects of two Bronzium sculptures inside the Jedi institution's main entrance on Coruscant, which honor two of the Jedi Masters who built the institution about 4000 BBY, were referred to as Sage Masters.

Numerous Jedi Sages have appeared over the millennia, including notably Yoda, Qui-Gon Jinn, Anakin Skywalker, Odan-Urr, and Yoda. Jedi Master Odan-Urr made a significant contribution to the Great Hyperspace War and is remembered fondly in the Jedi archives. Jedi Master Yoda stressed the need of intuition, flexibility, and a strong bond with the living Force. A maverick in the Jedi Order, Qui-Gon Jinn defied convention and personified what it meant to be a Jedi Sage. He was unique because of his unshakeable faith in the Force and unconventional interpretation of Jedi teachings. Events that would change the galaxy were initiated by Qui-Gon's discovery of Anakin Skywalker, a slave on Tatooine who was sensitive to the Force.

These Jedi were experts in telekinesis and force healing. Jedi Sages were skilled at using the Force from a range and were known to mostly use a single lightsaber in battle. They were also skilled trackers, using deep meditation to locate countless individuals all throughout the cosmos.
