The Katana fleet, more commonly known as the Dark Force, was a two hundred Dreadnaught-class heavy cruisers task force that was launched by the Galactic Republic around the time of its downfall. The fleet was created as an attempt to bring back the long-lost glory of the Republic Navy. Unfortunately, the fleet fell on its first mission due to a hive virus that completely drove the crews insane, and even the task force’s captain was said to blindly jump the ships into hyperspace.

History/Background Body Paragraph:

In the final decades, the Galactic Republic Senate funded multiple projects of an extravagant size and nature. In 46 BBY the Katana Fleet was completed, which was just one of many. This task force would all carry the experimental AT-PT walkers. The name of this task force was named after the flagship Katana.

Due to high-staffing needs on all of the spacecraft, there were modifications done to allow full-rig slave circuitry, which greatly reduced the staffing requirement from over 16,000 to 2,200 per vessel. The Katana fleet was easily recognized as Rendili StarDrive completely redesigned each Dreadnaught internal layout, from the décor and equipment through to the hull surface which was dark grey.
