Article Title/Topic: Hutt Cartel
General Information Body Paragraph
The Hutt Cartel, or Cartels as a plural, is arguably one of the most powerful crime families to ever come about in the Galaxy. Making their fortune smuggling among many other illegal business ventures, the Hutts gained quite the infamy among those who enforce the law. The Hutts base their Empire out of the planet Nal Hutta in the Y’Toub system, in the mid rim. The Hutts hire muscle all through out the galaxy to do their bidding. Their greedy nature made them dangerous to their opponents. The five families run by, Arok the Hutt, Gorga the Hutt, Oruba the Hutt, Marlo the Hutt and perhaps the most infamous, Jabba run the daily duties of the Cartel. Inside the family, the Granee Lorda, or Grand Lords word is essentially law once spoken. Illustrating the true power of the Hutts Jabba is quoted saying, “But if you fail me again, I’ll put a price on your head so big you won’t be able to go near a civilized system.” The Hutt Cartel lost power when bounty hunter Boba Fett, son of Jango Fett and clone, took power when there was a chance. This lead to a massive war between the crime families of the galaxy. However, the Hutts maintained power regardless of these challenges. The Hutts may be a family operation, but they aren't past corruption within their own ranks. At one point, Ziro even kidnapped Jabbas son in an attempt snatch power. At another, Bokku tried to align himself with the notorious Darth Vader to backstab Jabba the Hutt, a fellow member of the ruling five families.
History/Background Body Paragraph
Founded in 15,000 BBY on the planet of Nal Hutta, the Hutts are ruled by the five ruling families. The planet Nal Hutta that the Hutts use as a headquarters, was once called Evocar, home of the Evocii till they were ousted by the Hutts when they migrated from their native world of Varl. Destroying the native landscape, the Hutts established their idea of paradise with their palaces and amusement parks. For eleven thousand years Nal Hutta even rivaled Corruscant as the hub for interstellar trade. During the Dark Wars in 3951 BBY, the Hutts enslaved refugees after buying them. During the Great Galactic War in 3681 BBY, the Hutts remained neutral leaving their planet as they wished. During the Clone Wars, the Jedi Quinlan Vos and Obi Wan Kenobi followed Ziro the Hutt onto Nal Hutta where he was killed after seeking help from Mama Hutt. During the Galactic Empire, the Hutt Ruling families handled day to day affairs unless bounty hunting for rebels. During the Yuuzhan Vong War the Hutts were orbitally bombed for their treachery. After this, they released bacteria. The bacteria killed most of the hutts. However, the organic life they introduced failed to thrive on Nal Hutta. In 28 BBY the Hutt Cartel abandoned Nal Hutta and moved to Tatooine, in which the cartel had a heavy presence.
Additional Information Body Paragraph
Whomever is leading the Hutts, and whenever they had been leading you see a few things in common. One, those who cross the Hutts must be weary of the future because of the vast resources the family possesses. Two; the greed of the Hutts will go over all else. Lastly, the Hutts will do whatever it takes to assume power, even if that means betraying their own. The Hutts occupy a large part of galactic history, and will most likely remain for much longer. They are dangerous and their resources span throughout the galaxy. They should be feared, and above all else never trusted for anything.
