General Information Body Paragraph:

The Technobeasts were horrifying machine-organic mutants. Birthed to life when a technovirus - a product of mixing a Force power called Mechu-Deru with Sith alchemy, known as the Nanogene Spore, infected living organisms. The technovirus would cause its victim to slowly corrupt into a weaponized cyborg.

The most famous instance of these cyborgs was recorded during the waning years of the New Sith Wars, utilized by the Dark Lord of the Sith, Belia Darzu. She created an army of Technobeasts, named Metanecrons. She used them against the Galactic Republic and the Jedi during the Sictis Wars, her malice only ended when she was assassinated, putting an end to the Technobeasts for decades to come.

History/Background Body Paragraph:

The origins of the Technobeasts date centuries before the Great Sith War, when the Force power called Mechu-deru was learned by a handful of Sith Magicians. It allowed them to manipulate robotic constructs, with this the Sith Magicians continued to experiment with it, which eventually led them to create the first generation of the Technobeasts.

Centuries later, during the waning years of the New Sith Wars, Belia Darzu who at the time was the Dark Lord of the Sith discovered Mechu-deru. She spent time researching Sith alchemy alongside Mechu-deru, from her newfound knowledge she created a new form of the Force power called Mechu-deru Vitae. Using this new technique she created the Nanogene Spore, a technovirus capable of turning living organisms into mechanical mutants, named Technobeasts. After being mutated by the virus, an individual would be bound to the Dark Lord’s will and infused with the Dark Side, creating the second generation of the Technobeasts called the Metanecrons.

A secret fortress on planet Tython was used as the main base for Lord Darzu and her Metanecron army, from there she continued the production of the Metanecrons as well as creating a holocron to store all her findings in. The main use of her army was against the Jedi Order and the Galactic Republic, in which the Metanecrons became a horror immortalized within the archives. They were considered the main threat in the Sictis Wars, which were the subset of the New Sith Wars. The reason for which they were considered such a threat was their ability to turn their fallen enemies into Metanecrons as well. This fuelled the army, as more of their enemies fell in battle, the greater their numbers grew. 

Her armies continued to ravage the galaxy until her assassination in 1230 BBY, which effectively marked the end of the Sictis Wars. Although, the use of Technobeasts was not completely diminished as other Sith Lords after her continued to employ Technobeasts in much smaller numbers compared to her era. 

The end of the Technobeasts came in 1000 BBY with the defeat of the Sith at the Ruusan Campaign.

Additional Information Body Paragraph:

The Technobeasts of Belia Darzu remained in commission on Tython until 990 BBY, guarding the Holocron she had left behind. The remaining Metanecrons were debilitating, with their metallic bodies rusting and weapons malfunctioning. This was shown when a Sith Lord, namely Darth Bane, infiltrated the fortress.

Upon his search for the Holocron, he noticed the state in which the Metanecrons were left behind. Once the most feared creatures during the time of the Sictis Wars were now unable to penetrate the Sith Lord’s defenses and were shortly vanquished. Though it was mostly due to the Sith Lord’s armor, but it still emphasised how much decades of disuse had degraded the Metanecrons.
