Podracing was a very popular sport, found in the less-developed regions of the galaxy. It was deemed to be a top contender for the most dangerous sports. This was due to many racers being killed or dying during these competitions. Podracers were somewhat small one-manned speed repulorcrafts, most of them were made up of an anti-gravity pod, which was pulled by a pair or more of overpowered turbine engines.

History/Background Body Paragraph:

Podracing was created around 100 BBY on the planet Malastare by the racer known as Gustab Wenbus. Wenbus entered a race himself with a super-fast prototype that was designed by Phoebos–who was a mechanic. Wenbus standardized Pod Racing with the Podracer's configuration and promoted the first circuits. He had a few simple rules that were to be followed: build a racer, make it fast, and race. The prize scale was based on the last surviving racer or the order in who crossed the finish line first.

After the rise of the Galactic Empire and the Declaration of a New Order, Podracing would become outlawed throughout the galaxy. This meant that with all the stringent standards of law enforcement, the sport soon lost its popularity altogether, causing the racer to lose sponsorships and cash flow.
