Force Healing as the name suggests is somewhat of an umbrella term of the utilisation of the force to speed up recovery and was accessible to both light and dark force users. Light force healing enabled rapid  recovery of severe injuries, compromising two force techniques, Force Purification and Force Assist demanding high-levels of intensive concentration. The light side of force healing could be used to heal the body physically, but also heal the mind. Contrasting this, dark side users were also able to access this healing ability at a costly price. Its origins in the darker side of the force, this side of healing has its limitations, lasting dark side healing requires the vitality of others involving uses of the offensive and defensive force techniques on its spectrum referred to as Force Drain or Death Field. It also meant that effects could potentially be non-lasting and temporary.

Its historical uses involve the use of both dark and light side users, a common misconception of force healing is that force users with a relationship to the dark side were not able to use the light side of force healing. Jedi practitioners made use of light side force healing to diagnose and treat their patients' illness. A branch of this ability lessened the intensity of fatigue was popularised amongst Jedi after the New Sith Wars up until Order 66. Sith Lord Darth Sion exemplifies the dark side uses of force healing primarily fueled by focusing on strong emotions of pain, anguish, and agony to recover from his wounds. Over time this worsened and became less effective, putting him in a state of constant agony. Ki-Adi-Mundi, former member of the High Jedi Council exemplifies the light side uses of force healing that is more fixated on concentration and was able to utilise his force abilities to heal a broken collar bone through  meditation.

Force healing is an ability used on a macro-scale by force sensitives with different variations of its outcome and techniques. Depending on the force user's ability to harness and manipulate the force would result in different outcomes of the healing ability.
