The Sun Guard was a Thyrsian mercenary company founded between 1154 and 899 BBY. Before they became mercenaries, they were a special forces unit and served under the Thyrsus military. They fought in many battles against the Echani, a near-human species, against which they rebelled for independence.

History/Background Body Paragraph:

  After peace came in 899 BBY as Thyrsus independence was declared in the Pact of Almera, the Sun Guard slowly became independent from Thyrsus and began living a nomadic life, earning their money as a mercenary unit. They took gladiator jobs, and bounty hunter jobs but also fought as a unit in wars or conflicts. Soon, they became enemies of the Mandalorians, but instead of fighting against each other in organized military attacks, they had many duels to death with each other.This rivalry peaked in the Battle of Sintheti, which took place on 402 BBY, when both were hired by rivals who fought for the rulership of Sintheti.

Sometime between 100 BBY and 67 BBY, the Sith began employing Sun Guards to guard their residences as well as executing smaller jobs. In 65 BBY, the Sith helped Thull Wulain get into the position of Supreme Sun Guardian, which was the highest position in the Sun Guard.” After this, Thull Wulain swore fealty to Darth Sidious.They then executed even more jobs for the Sith and played an essential role in their empire. Darth Sidious also used them to murder pivotal Senators and other political enemies standing in his way of becoming the Supreme Chancellor of the Republic.
