Abafar is a sparsely populated desert planet. The low population is due to the desert that covers the entire planet, making it very difficult for life to develop. Nevertheless, few creatures developed that one often sees when traveling to waterholes. Despite all the disadvantages of the vegetation and climate, the planet was well known due to the mineable Rhydonium in the planet's interior.

History/Background Body Paragraph

Abafar plays an important role for the Confederation of Independent Systems, as they established Rhydonium mining facilities to use it for their purposes. Later in the Clone Wars, when a droid task force known as D-Sqaud crashed on Abafar, they discovered a Separatist landing site. They infiltrated the landing site with the help of CC-5576 aka Gregor, a former clone commando who suffered from amnesia from the crash. With help from D-Sqaud, he remembers his clone life and steals a shuttle with them, allowing D-Sqaud to escape, but he stays behind to prevent the battle droids from engaging the shuttle.

Due to the ice formations in orbit, several ships crashed on Abafar because they mostly come from hyperspace and cannot fast enough to avoid the ice formations.
