During this time, Chewbacca, a Wookiee warrior, met Han Solo's loyal friend and copilot, who later became him. In the original trilogy, the Wookiees fought alongside the Rebel Alliance against the Galactic Empire. They played an important role in the Battle of Endor, where they defended the forest moon from Imperial forces and helped destroy the second Death Star.
