Kouhuns, also called Indoumodo kouhuns, were tiny, multi-legged arthropods that lived on the planet Indoumodo, a rainforest; they were capable of venomously attacking their prey. Because their poison was always fatal, assassins occasionally used them to murder their targets.

History/Background Body Paragraph:

Originally from the swamps of the planet Indoumodo, kouhuns were arthropods that could live on almost any planet. They were pack hunters, moving silently and tracking their prey with body heat, which they neutralized with a single sting. Growing up to thirty centimeters in length, kouhuns had a segmented carapace and stingers on both the front and rear of their bodies, which they used to deliver venom that was produced by specialized glands within their bodies. Their poison was extremely strong and especially useful against species that resembled humans. They pursued animals as large as dogs.

On Coruscant, bounty hunter Zam Wesell attempted to kill Senator Padmé Amidala twice, this time with the help of two kouhuns. Jango Fett, her coworker, gave her the animals because he thought a more subdued strategy would be more successful in murdering the senator in the end. After being put onto an ASN courier droid, the monster flew to Amidala's residence, broke through the window of her bedroom, and silently released the two lethal creatures into her space. The kouhuns landed on the ground and began moving toward Amidala's bed, where she was resting. The kouhuns froze as R2-D2, who was watching over the senator in her room, sensed something and activated his lights to search the space. When the droid darkened, they crept up to the senator's sleeping place. Through the Force, Anakin Skywalker, who was in the adjacent chamber, sensed that Amidala was in grave danger. He hurried entered Amidala's chamber and used a few lightsaber strokes to expertly cut the beasts in half.
