Article Theme/Topic: The Elders
General Information Body Paragraph:
The “Elders” are a civilization of humanoid reptiles that colonized Naboo millennia before humans appeared on it. The Elders used force-sensitive individuals. They tended them to create temples and structures that were scattered throughout the Nabooian environment. Perhaps a couple of such remains have also been spotted on the surface of the moon Rori. The Elders clashed with the Gungans, a race of aquatic humanoids native to Naboo, upon their arrival there.
History/Background Body Paragraph:
Around 7032 BBY, the Elders began a war with the Gungans, forcing the latter to take refuge in underwater settlements and give rise to the modern civilization of the Gungans.
It was believed that the Elders built monuments scattered around the planet. However, at least a few were later found on Rory, a satellite of Naboo. One of the largest monuments was located on the northern border of the Lianorm swamp. The Gungans considered it sacred, like the rest of the ruins, called “The Elders” as gods.
Both the Gungans and the Naboo people believed that the civilization of the ancients came to an end in 5032 BBY, possibly due to the predatory use of nature. The Great army of the Gungans drove the Elders off the planet.
Additional Information Body Paragraph:
While the struggle between the Elders and the Gungans was crucial to Naboo's history, the relics of the Elders' civilization kept influencing the cultural and spiritual convictions of both the Gungans and those who lived in Naboo. The elders' temples and constructions served as locations of devotion and concealment, alongside their physical monuments. Gungan stories describe how the oldest people harness the Force and are linked to nature. Some academics believe that the Elders' departure from Naboo was motivated by a greater knowledge of the fragile balance between Power and the environment. Furthermore, archeological investigations in Rori and other parts of Naboo continue to unearth numerous inscriptions and relics.
