Bail Prestor Organa was a human male from Alderaan. His people were known as “Alderaanians,” and, as one of their politicians, he was a key figure in both galactic politics and also the founding of the Alliance to Restore the Republic. During the waning years of the Galactic Republic Bail Organa represented his homeworld of Alderaan within the Republic senate, and in his role took a widely unpopular stance in favor of peace and Democracy. After the rise of the Galactic Empire, Organa would retain his seat in the newly formed Imperial Senate. However, the lack of democracy within the Senate and clear blindness to the woes of the common man would lead him to plot in secret and gather resistance groups to strike out against the fascist government, eventually leading to the formation of the Rebel Alliance. Though Senator Organa would not live to see the demise and fall of the Empire, he was remembered as a Hero and the Father of the Rebellion. 

History/Background Body Paragraph:

Senator Organa, born Bail Prestor, was born during the Royal Dynasty of Alderaan. His noble bloodline was part of the Elder Houses, and extended across the galaxy. He was even a distant kinsman of Lord Mellowyn, the ceremonial monarch of Birren. Unbothered by political ventures in his youth, Bail dreamt of “chasing purgill far past Kathou”, as he would later tell Leia Organa. However, as he started to grow in age, Bail discovered that he needed to find other adventures in life, and he soon met Breha Organa, a member of the house of Organa. Breha was planet’s crown princess; and as Bail fell deeply in love with that girl, instead of chasing purgill he began to chase her,  diverting all his attention to her.
She reciprocated his love for her, and the two eventually got married. In marrying Breha, Bail forsook his familial name and legacy to be with her. Ultimately, Breha ascended to the Throne as Queen, and Bail assumed the various titles of the Queen’s spouse such as Viceroy, First Chairman & Governor of Alderaan. Together this pair fought hard to keep Alderaan strong, and despite their personal struggles they managed to build up Alderaan’s economy and standing on the Galactic Stage. 

Despite his aversion to politics in his early life, Bail Organa was an effective politician, and was considered a powerhouse on the political stage. In addition to the titles he held on Alderaan, Bail Organa also acted as a Statesman within the Galactic Republic, the democratic union that governed most of the known galaxy from its Senate Chambers on Coruscant.  An aspiring progressive Leader, Bail was inspired by the policies of Supreme Chancellor Valorum, even though Valorum’s administration was very hampered by the bureaucracy that seeped throughout the Republic. When she arrived on Coruscant for her first ever legislative session within the Senate around 32 BBY, the newly elected Senator of Chandrila, Mon Mothma , sought out Organa’s counsel. Believing that someone of his distinguished personage would possess sage wisdom, Bail surprised Mon Mothma with his egalitarian way of thinking, and he told her that not a single member of the Republic Senate truly knew what they were doing and, if she felt the same way, she would be good in company. His advice immediately put her at ease, and the two formed a friendship that would last a lifetime. 

Following the Invasion of Naboo that same year, Bail Organa decided to join the Senate himself and won the seat for Alderaan, succeeding Bail Antilles.  In the wake of the Election, Bail Organa resigned from his position as Alderaan’s Governor, and as head of the Alderaanian Delegation, Organa would continue his service to Alderaan abroad while Breha led their home world. From this point on Bail Organa  grew close to many senators such as Padme Amidala. Later on he ran against Chancellor Palpatine in the elections but that attempt was futile. He was also a crucial part of the Clone Wars, while not a front-line combatant, he helped turn the cogs behind the scenes to get the funding and materials necessary for the Republic to defend its planets and form successful counter offensives.

His efforts during Christophus and his will to fight eventually helped break the blockade on the planet, along with keeping the spirits of many on the planet's surface warm, boiling and alive. Bail Organa gave up his position as Governor to serve in the Senate as he could assist in different ways. Before the end of the Clone Wars, he was closely associated with Chancellor Palpatine, including when Palpatine was a Senator. Bail Organa was also one of the founders of the Rebel Alliance that would eventually grow so big it would overthrow the grand Galactic Empire. He also served within the Imperial Senate for a number of years until his death at 0 BBY when the Death Star’s super laser was used to destroy Alderaan to prove its power.
