Kanan Jarrus was born Caleb Dume. Was a human Jedi Knight who survived Order 66. He survived thanks to his Master Depa Billaba, who sacrificed himself. Kanan then met the smuggler Janus Kasmir, who taught him how to survive as a fugitive. After working with the Twi'lek rebel Hera Syndulla during the Gorse conflict, Jarrus decided to join her nascent rebel cell.

Caleb Dume was born in 33 BBY, in the waning years of the Galactic Republic. Caleb was inducted into the Jedi Order at a very young age. He will never know his parents. He went from home to the Jedi Temple. As a teenager, he met Jedi Master Luminara Unduli. Supreme Chancellor Sheev Palpatine issued Order 66, branding all Jedi as traitors to the state and calling for their immediate execution. Battalion members began firing on the surprised general, which Dume noticed as he departed with Clone Force 99.
