Every jedi is called to by a crystal based on how they use their force. Each colour of crystal has their own meaning for instance: blue is the symbol for protection, green is to represent harmony, helpfulness, cooperation, spiritually. Goodwill and is often associated with consulars! cyan is for calm, peace and water, purple is the line between light and dark and walking along it. There are many other colours often unattainable within the icebound caves of ilum colours such as: light blue, white, black and finally red. Red is often associated with the Sith order, most known to have used this crystal is darth vader. Red showing how it was bled from the user turning it from green to red. The bleeding of the pain and dispeare and hate one feels turning it to red! The kyber crystal is at the heart of every lightsaber, attuned to the force and the jedi on a deeper personal level. No jedi chooses their own kyber crystal, as the crystal chooses for you. The kyber lets out a humming sound (almost hypnotic) luring the jedi towards it to be united with them as one. From then on the crystal goes from white to the colour of the jedi’s purpose. Forever as one. No matter the reason behind the colour. 

History/Background Body Paragraph:

Internally kyber crystals (lightsaber crystals) are made out of both organic and inorganic matter. They were stable at all pressures and temperatures being able to withhold the pressure and temperature of the amount found in the cores of a large star. This was very clear as they were immune to fire of any proximity and could withstand a hammering. They were also known for their most intricate details and patterns. Kyber crystals are strong and sturdy enough to withstand the force of a violent explosion of a lightsaber grid, such as those accidently inverting the emitter matrix during the lightsaber assembling . Kyber crystals (lightsaber crystals) would not warm any inanimate object such as towels, sheets, clothes or anything that was not life. As long as it is living including plants the crystal will warm to the touch however will not change temperature.

Kyber crystals had no discernible lifespan and with this can be found as small of one's fingernails all the way to unimaginable sizes. The kyber crystal will not only be the heart of the lightsaber but also the heart and soul of the jedi.
