Article Theme/Topic: Jedi Master Gnost-Dural
General Information Body Paragraph:
Gnost-Dural, was a male Kel Dor Jedi Master, who was a member of the Jedi Order throughout the Great Galactic War and the ensuing Cold War after the “Treaty of Coruscant”. Dural was known for his work in the archives and served as the Keeper of the Jedi Archives for a portion of his life. Other than Dural’s work in the archives, Dural served on the Jedi High Council for several years before the “Treaty of Coruscant”. As well, Dural went on to become the head of a Jedi settlement on the planet of Ossus. Here Dural provided a safe haven to Jedi and civilian volunteers for nearly 25 years after the “Treaty of Coruscant”. Though it is unknown precisely what occurred to Master Dural, it is said that his contributions to both the Jedi order and the Republic are vast and respected by all.
History/Background Body Paragraph:
Gnost-Dural began his time with the Jedi Order at a very young age. Discovered for being force sensitive, the young Dural was brought to the Jedi Temple on Coruscant where he would study and train while a padawan. Once Dural had advanced past padawan he followed the path of a Jedi Consular and, due to the advice of Jedi master Shol Bestros, began keeping a journal. This journal became the location where Dural would list all of his thoughts, experiences. Later in life, this journal became very useful to Dural as it provided fantastic references for the material for the Temple Archives.
Dural continued his training as a historian and in the process created his signature green-bladed lightsaber. As well during the four years following the creation of his journal, Dural would discover several forgotten records of Tython, The Force Wars, and the Infinite Empire, which all proved valuable to the Jedi Order. At the end of these four years, and after these significant discoveries Dural ascended to the rank of Jedi Knight where he swore to uphold the Jedi Code and defend the Galactic Republic.
Unfortunately for Dural, it was on the day of his Knighting ceremony that news broke on Coruscant of an assault on the Tingel Arm. This attack was the first time the resurgent Sith Empire had appeared since the Great Hyperspace War nearly two millennia prior. Due to this Gnost-Dural would be dispatched and participate in this conflict from its earliest days.
Dural would spend years fighting on the front lines of the Great Galactic War winning several victories at locations such as Bothawui, and Eliad. After these years on the front lines, Gnost-Dural returned to Coruscant to conduct research and work with the Temple Archives to discover the origins of the Sith. This research would result in a detailed report containing historical accounts of the Sith Empire, and Dural’s inaccurate belief that the long dead Sith Lord Naga Sadow was leading the war effort for the Sith.
After the “Treaty of Coruscant” Dural served as a Jedi Master on the Jedi High Council, and a Keeper of the Jedi Archives. As the Keeper of the Jedi Archives, Dural’s research served as the basis for a new Jedi Library. On top of his work on Coruscant, Dural spent much time on missions looking to assist the Republic during the time of the cold war, as well as the creation of a hidden colony on Ossus for Jedi and civilians.
Though it is unconfirmed what truly occurred to Jedi Master Gnost-Dural in his final days, what can be confirmed is that his knowledge and understanding of history was near unmatched. And, thanks to his journal which he diligently kept, our Jedi Archives are full of fantastic material which has not only come from the source in many cases, but is a perfect representation of said event, individual, being, animal, or other.
Additional Information Body Paragraph:
Gnost-Dural was a strong wielder of both the force and lightsaber combat. His preferred abilities within the force were telekinesis and force speed, both of which were vital during time spent on the front lines of the Great Galactic War. But, despite his advanced knowledge of the force, Dural was also a master of several forms of lightsaber combat. These forms included Soresu, Djem So, and Juyo.
Besides his combat prowess, Master Dural was a historian first and foremost. As such, he strived to record galactic history as well as the feats of important individuals. He was mostly successful with this goal as thanks to his journal several variations of the Jedi archives were created. With this, Dural was also quite open minded as he was seen entertaining many other viewpoints, or other ideas that many other Jedi would have quite quickly dismissed. One such example is his willingness to speak on whether the Sith’s pursuit of power is directly attached to their usurping of each other.
