הערות שכתב איזי הוד: בשנת 1950, כתבו קבוצת סטודנטים, מבית הספר לרפואה בקייב, מכתב הזמנה לשיר, על העיר קייב ויופי פריחתה, בעונות השנה השונות. הסטודנטים, עמדו לסיים את לימודיהם והכשרתם הרפואית ועמדו להתפזר, בכל אוקראינה. הם קיוו, לקחת איתם את השיר ולהאזין לו, בכל עת שיתקפו אותם הגעגועים, לתקופת הלימודים בקייב. הבקשה רגשה מאד את המחברים והם כתבו והלחינו את השיר וואלס קייב ומסרו את השיר לסטודנטים, כמתנה לכבוד סיום לימודיהם. הסטודנטים ממחזור 1950, של בית הספר לרפואה בקייב, היו הראשונים, לשמוע את השיר וגם לבצע את השיר, בטקס ומסיבת הסיום בתום לימודיהם. מאז הפך השיר, לשיר מאד פופלארי והוא נשמע כל הזמן, בכל רחבי קייב, כי בתי ספר רבים, אימצו אותו כמנגינת הפעמונים שבין השיעורים. השיר, הוא ההימנון הבלתי רשמי של קייב

Notes written by Izzy Hod: In 1950, a group of students, from the, Kiev Medical School, wrote a letter of invitation to a song, about the city of, Kiev and the beauty of its blossoming, in the different seasons. The students were about to finish their medical studies and training and were about to disperse, all over, Ukraine. They hoped to take the song with them and listen to it, whenever they longed for, Kiev, and for the period of study in, Kiev. The request greatly moved the authors and they wrote and composed the song, Waltz Kiev and gave the song to the students, as a gift in honor of their graduation. The students from the 1950s class of the, Kiev School of Medicine, were the first to hear the song and also perform the song, at the ceremony and graduation party at the end of their studies. Since then, the song has become a very popular song and is heard all the time, all over, Kiev, because many schools have adopted it as the bell melody between lessons. The song, is the unofficial anthem of, Kiev. The literal description of the words of the song is as follows, There is nothing like the nightingales singing on peaceful nights when the banks of the, Dnieper, return to you in a dream. The sea of chestnut trees blooms, where the, Dnieper water, flows, now in our happy youth. Our horizon is very wide and there is no end to the distances we can reach.
