הערות שכתב איזי הוד: בקיץ 1955, הכין הסטודיו המוסקבאי לסרטים דוקומנטריים, סרט בשם ימי הספורט, לקראת משחקי הפדרציה הרוסית, שעמדו להיערך באותה שנה. כדי להעשיר את הסרט, החליטו לכלול בו שיר לירי ולאו דווקא שיר לכת ופנו לצמד היוצרים, המשורר, מיכאיל מאטוסובסקי והמלחין וואסילי סולוביוב-סדוי. היה חם באותה תקופת שנה והצמד היה בנופש בדאצ'ה. לא התחשק להם לעבוד. סולוביוב-סדוי, המלחין, נזכר בלחן בן שנתיים שכתב בשנת 1953, בשם, לילות לנינגרד, שהיה מונח במגרה, כי לא זכה בזמנו להצלחה. מאטוסובסקי, כתב את המלים וגם המנגינה שונתה מזערית. לנינגרד הפכה מוסקבה והשיר הוגש לצאת ידי חובה. השיר התקבל בסטודיו בביקורת קשה, אבל לא היה זמן להכין שיר אחר. גם מציאת זמר, שישיר אותו, לא היתה פשוטה. מרק בֶּארְנֶאס, מגדולי זמרי העם והסרטים ברוסיה, לגלג על המלים וסרב. מוזר, אך מרק בארנאס ראה בשורת השיר, איך אומר לך מבלי לומר, ועוד, כלא ראוים לשירתו. זמרים אחרים לא השביעו רצון. לבסוף נמסר הבצוע, למי שאז עוד לא היה זמר, אלא שחקן אופי וולאדימיר טרוֹשין. הסרט לא זכה להצלחה, אבל השיר הושמע פעם אחת ברדיו. מאזינים רבים, בקשו לשוב ולשמוע אותו וככל שרבו ההשמעות, כך נערמו הררי המכתבים, המבקשים לשמוע את השיר, שוב ושוב. ב-1957, היה השיר, לשיר הרשמי של פסטיבל הנוער הדמוקרטי וסולוביוב-סדוי, קיבל עבורו פרס. במשך השנים, תורגם השיר לשפות רבות ויש טוענים כי זהו השיר הרוסי המתורגם ביותר, השיר שימש ומשמש כצליל פתיחה לכמה תחנות רדיו ברוסיה. מוזיקאים ומשוררים רבים, ראו את השיר הזה, בתחילת דרכו, חסר משמעות מוזיקאלית ושירית ואין לו כלל תרומה תרבותית. מאידך, המלחין הרוסי הנודע, דמיטרי בוריסוביץ' קאבאלאבסקי כתב כך, השיר הזה בנוי על אינטונציות מוכרות בכלל ומוכרות לנו בפרט, וזו ההצלחה הגדולה של המלחין. צריך להיות מסוגל לשמוע את קול התקופה, השיר חייב להתבסס על אוזן אנושית מוכרת... זה עניין של כישרון, אינטואיציה ומיומנות של המלחין ללכוד ולהשתמש במערכת האינטונציה של התקופה, כדי לכתוב מוזיקה כזו שהיא מובנת לאנשים, קרובה אליהם, נותנת הנאה, מטפחת טעם, מעוררת לחיים רגשות טובים ומוארים

Notes written by Izzy Hod: In the summer of 1955, the Moscow Studio for Documentary Films prepared a film called Sports Days, in preparation for the Russian Federation Games, which were to be held that year. In order to enrich the film, they decided to include a lyrical song in it and not necessarily a cult song and turned to the duo of creators, the poet, Mikhail Lavovich Matusovsky and the composer Vasily Pavlovich Solovyov-Sedoi. It was hot at that time of year and the couple were on vacation at the dacha. They didn't feel like working. Solovyov-Sedoi, the composer, recalled a two-year-old composition he wrote in 1953, entitled, Leningrad Nights, which was placed in a drawer, because it was not successful at the time. Matusovsky, wrote the words and the melody was also slightly changed. Leningrad became Moscow and the song was submitted perfunctorily. The song was received in the studio with harsh criticism, but there was no time to prepare another song. Finding a singer to sing it was not easy either. Mark Bernes, one of the greatest folk and film singers in Russia, scoffed at the words and refused. It's strange, but Mark Bernes saw the line of the song, How I tell you without saying, and more, as unworthy of his poetry. Other singers were not satisfied. Finally, the finished product was given to Vladimir Konstantinovich Troshin, who was not yet a singer, but a character actor. The film was not a success, but the song was played once on the radio. Many listeners asked to hear it again and the more the playbacks, the more the mountains of letters piled up, asking to hear the song, again and again. In 1957, the song was the official song of the Democratic Youth Festival and Solovyov-Sedoi, for that song received an award. Over the years, the song has been translated into many languages and some claim that it is the most translated Russian song, the song was and is used as the opening sound for several radio stations in Russia. Many musicians and poets saw this song, at the beginning, as lacking in musical and lyrical meaning and having no cultural contribution at all. On the other hand, the famous Russian composer, Dmitry Borisovich Kavalavsky wrote this, this song is built on familiar intonations in general and familiar to us in particular, and this is the great success of the composer.
