Virtual Learners Enjoying First Weeks of School

As the 2020-2021 school year starts at GRB, students are adjusting after being online only for about six months. Some students are still choosing to learn from the virtual point of view and most seem to be enjoying the working from home life.

Students say they believe staying online was the right choice for this school year because of all the germs that could possibly be spread around the school especially during these times. Some parents made the choice to keep their children at home.

Reasons for staying home are varied. Senior Tiffany Sidmore said, ¨I chose to stay home because I can easily do my work efficiently at home without having the fear of getting the virus. Also, all of my close friends stayed home to so it was not like I was missing out on seeing them.¨

GRB parent Kelly Newton explained her reasoning for keeping her kids home this year. ¨I kept my children home to keep them safe and also healthy. My kids are doing very well learning virtually so I believe I have made the right choice," she said.

The students who are doing online school feel that it is easier and more helpful to be learning at home. ¨You do not have to worry about getting the virus by staying home and not exposing yourself to others,¨ senior Jaidyn Perry said.

Senior Dominic Hoffman said, ¨I enjoy online school more than I liked going into actual school. I think it is much simpler learning online rather than in person."
