Farewell to the Class of 2020

By Breahna Boots

Many GRB teachers are disappointed they didn't get to say goodbye to their students, especially seniors, and they want to wish the Class of 2020 all the best.

Here are some parting words for the graduates.

School Counselor, Mr. Nofal - "This year was certainly an interesting one. It may not have ended the way we expected but I chose to remember all the good times we had. I am impressed by all the hard work you have put in and expect big things from you in the future. No matter what your next step in life is, always remember where you came from. I am very proud of you all. Good luck!"

English 12 teacher, Mrs. Windsor - "I am proud of how you have accepted the circumstances of life and grown in the past couple of months. You have told me about your jobs and learning things that you might not have in a classroom, taking care of family and yourselves in ways that you never imagined, teaching younger siblings and relatives skills that range from reading and math to riding a bike and simple cooking, and scheduling your own time in a way that allows you to meet the goals that you set for yourself each day. If you face each challenge with the determination, flexibility, and kindness toward yourself and others with which you have tackled this one, you will go far. Congratulations, Class of 2020!"

Social studies teacher, Mr. Nate Fasulo - "My advice to the class of 2020 is to set goals, work hard, and don't give up!"

Social studies teacher, Mr. Jon Fasulo - "The best advice I can give is to always be prepared to reinvent yourself, be aware there’s always a place for someone who works hard, understand that personal grit will bring you through times of adversity, and remember you can best tell someone’s character during the tough times. We’re blessed to live in a country where you can create your own fate, so get to it in this next chapter of your lives!"

Math teacher, Mrs. Ryan - "I am very proud of you for all of your accomplishments both academically and with a wide variety of extracurricular activities. Your class has made great contributions to G. Ray Bodley High School and to the Fulton community. I am saddened that the school year closure took away so many memorable moments from you, but I am confident that you will always have strong memories of this time in your life. During this time you have learned some valuable life lessons that bear mentioning: 1. You are strong and capable of making it through very difficult times. 2. Life will always be your greatest teacher, and you will continue to learn something new each day of your life. 3. The most important "things" in life are really not "things"; they are the people you love, good health, and the ability to adapt and move forward. I wish you all the best!"

Business teacher, Mrs. Ferlito - "Hello Class of 2020! I hope your unique senior year has given you a different perspective on life and what is really important. My wish for each of you is that you are able to follow your dreams and live a life you are passionate about, surrounded by people who love and care about you! Congratulations and best of luck!"

Physics teacher, Mr. Galek - "I would like to wish all of our seniors the very best. Obviously, we have had to deal with a tremendous amount of change, and I believe that successfully dealing with constant change can only make you stronger. So for this reason, the senior class will forever be Fulton Strong. As your Physics teacher, I want you to remember all of your forces. And I might add, "May the Force be with you! " I hope to see everyone sometime this summer at the Midway Drive Ins, remembering to keep social distancing and wearing a mask when appropriate such as the concession stands."

Junior High Principal, Mr. Copani - "Class of 2020, it was a pleasure watching you grow up inside the walls of GRB for the three years I was there. I wish you well and leave you with this advice: I want you to remember that while you will experience success, you’ll experience failure far more often. The only way you’ll ever truly fail though is if you give up on yourself. When you want something, be willing to work harder than everyone else to get it. It’s the only thing you have total control over in life. Good luck!"

Family and Consumer Science teacher, Ms. Hawley - "I will miss you and try to make your graduation day as special as possible. You all deserve to celebrate anyway you can. I hope you are all well and please reach for your dreams."

Science teacher, Mr. Mainville - "Try new things, explore and never be afraid to fail. Worry less about what others think and more about being true to yourself. Most importantly, always be kind."

Business teacher, Mr. Cupelo - "My advice would be to be there for each other. Always! You never know what life is going to throw at you, but if you have friends or even just people who have gone down the same path as you, you can feel confident that you're not alone in your experience"

Science teacher, Mr. Burdick - "Congratulations to all our graduates. You will certainly have something to tell your kids in the future about the crazy year where you had to finish school online to graduate. It is the start of a whole lifetime of challenges that I know you will be able to meet because you have started your life long learning with a wonderful group of educators in the Fulton City School District. Good luck to all of you and I look forward to running into each and every one of you in the future."

Physical Education teacher, Mr. Halladay - "Look to the future, it is bright, and your senior year was unforgettable."

Physical Education teacher, Mr. Stalker - "Congratulations class of 2020. It was a pleasure to teach all of you these past 4 years. I am sad that we couldn't be together at the end of the school year but let this be a learning experience that we all must be open to change. I wish you all the best in your quest after high school."

Physical Education teacher and Senior Class Advisor, Mrs. Killian - "Thank you class of 2020! It has been great working with you and watching you all achieve great things and reach goals. I know that you all will continue to do so in the future! I want to remind all of you that now you are a part of history, something that no other senior class can talk about. Good luck to all of you!"
