Surrounding schools rarely recognize Fulton as being a powerhouse school for athletics, but GRB is having one of its most successful years in sports in recent memory.
In the fall, the boys soccer team won a legendary section championship against CBA, who was the strong favorite. It was the team's first section title since 2005. Senior captain Conner Ware said, “It was an amazing accomplishment and I'll remember that game for the rest of my life.”
Head Coach Mr. Murray described the program with one word, “Driven."
Fulton took that momentum into our winter sports, where the cheerleaders won their first Section 3 title in school history.
The bowling team, which is typically dominant, had a record of 14-1 and went undefeated in the league. They also won their second consecutive Class B Section 3 team title.
Our Raider Wrestling team is well-known as one of the top teams in New York State. They were particularly dominant this year. They won their fourth consecutive Section 3 dual title, which tied the Section 3 record. They also went on to have four individual section champions as well as their fifth consecutive Section 3 Division 1 tournament title.
Senior captain Nick Noel said, “We had a successful season. We are losing a lot of seniors, but we will be reloading with new talent next year.”
Our swimming team had a historic season becoming the first championship team for the program. In the process, they broke several school records.
These wins give Fulton a total of six section titles, which is three more than Central Square and Liverpool, five more than Mexico, Oswego, Phoenix, and CBA, and six more than Hannibal.
The spring sports season has started and all athletes hope to take that momentum into the final season of the year.
