Girls Track and Field Wraps Up Great Season

By Misty Bardin

Girls track and field had a very interesting season this year. There have been many big improvements in some areas and the team is still working on others.

It was a short season, but a good season with a lot of potential being shown.

Coach Demars stated, “We had three girls qualify for Sectionals in the 400 meter hurdles, which nobody qualified in last year.” Denayah Orr, Ella Hicks, and Meilin Lamanna were those who qualified.

Coach Demars also stated, “A freshman qualified in three individual events and is a big part of our relays.” Freshman Abby Mainville was the one who qualified for all three.

Freshman Mary Jerred stated, "We had a fundraiser for St. Baldrick's awareness against Oswego this season and raised around $1100 and beat them.” It was a good season and very exciting for some.

There were quite a few others who were so close to qualifying in field events in only their first year.

The girls track team is young and is already off to a good start. With only two senior girls (one being a foreign exchange student) graduating this year there is still so much to look forward to.

Coach Demars is very excited for the next few years to see where this goes, but there is definitely a lot to be excited about going forward.
