On March 13, G. Ray Bodley will hold its annual March Blood drive. The drive will take place from 8:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. in the LGI. Student Senate encourages everyone to sign up and donate to save lives.
Signups will occur frequently during Guided Study Hall from now until the drive. To sign up you must be 16 (with parent consent) or older and meet the height and weight requirements, which can be found on the Red Cross website. Student Senate asks everyone to make their best effort to sign up for an appointment as a large influx of walk-ins can disrupt the flow of donations and increase wait times.
If you want to donate but are afraid you won't have enough time, complete a rapid pass the morning of and bypass the questioning process. This allows you to get your donation completed in a shorter amount of time.
As a reward for donating, donors will receive a free t-shirt and be placed in a drawing to win tickets to see the new Game of Thrones movie.
Giving blood is an amazing act of kindness. Student Senate asks everyone who donates to sign a banner that will be displayed to show this accomplishment.
Senior Shaylee Cealie said, “As this is our last blood drive of the year, I'm hoping we will be able to reach our donation goal to finish out the year strong.”
“We encourage all students and teachers to drop down to the LGI during the day. Walk-ins are always welcome during any of our blood drives,” senior Student Senate President Jenna Ruzekowicz said.
Senior Jasmine Criswell noted, “Student Senate hopes that our March blood drive will make a difference for those who need blood. We have had many people sign up and hopefully will collect more donations than last time.”
