Oh, how the time flies! The third marking period will be over in just one short week as it ends on Friday, April 5. Now is the time for students to review their grades and ensure all assignments are completed and graded.
The fourth and last marking period will begin on April 8. Semester 1 has marking periods 1 and 2, while Semester 2 has marking periods 3 and 4.
Senior Maddie Ney Rhinehart said, "I think it is important to have marking periods because it gives you what you are doing well on and what you need to work on in order to get ready to graduate." She also said, "As a student of GRB, I find myself at a good spot."
Throughout the school year, School Tool is updated every week by teachers.
Social studies teacher Mrs. Kent said, "I am typically pretty good at inputting grades in a timely manner and providing feedback to students. This year, my classes are much larger and grading is more time-consuming than it has been in past years so sometimes it takes me longer to get everything graded and into School Tool."
Mrs. Kent also explained that there were no five-week reports last year, only report cards every ten weeks. She said, "I am glad that we are sending five-week reports home again this year because many times they provide a much needed wake-up call to students who owe work. However, preparing grades and comments for five-weeks reports is more work for the teachers."
The countdown is also on for the long-awaited spring break! Spring break is from April 15-22. The flowers are blooming and the birds are singing. The first day of Spring was March 20. Spring is a temperate season that comes after winter and moves into summer. Spring may be all about spring break to most, but it is also a relaxing season because you can sink into the warm sun and smell the blooming flowers.
We, the students of GRB, are turning the corner and heading quickly to graduation, summer jobs, college, and more. We're almost there, GRB! Stay strong!
