Students Enjoy Construction Career Day

By Abbigayle Wood

The Construction Career Day was hosted at the New York State Fairgrounds. Students from GRB got to attend with GRB or with Oswego County Boces.

The students got to meet with tradesman from all different types of disciplines. There were men and women there from the carpenter union, the masonry union, the welder union, and more.

The students got to learn about job opportunities right out of high school that do not require any college. The trades are always looking for new recruits, whether you know anything about the trade or not. They will train you to their liking.

One of the representatives said, "I actually prefer to teach someone from scratch so they do things to my liking."

Another tradesman said, "Women are just as valuable in the field as the men are."

Senior Cameron Warren said, "The Construction Career Day was very informative."
