A Fulton Red Raider has joined the Oswego Bucs girls golf team because Fulton only has a boys golf team.

Fulton Student Joins Oswego Golf Team

Senior Liz Roik is the first-ever G. Ray Bodley Student to join Oswego’s varsity girls golf team. This is Roik’s first year playing for a school's golf team. She has previously been a hobby golfer and goes golfing on vacations with her family as well as at golf courses in the area.

To play golf for a school, Roik had to join the Oswego golf team because G. Ray Bodley does not have a girls team, only a boys team.

Roik said, “This experience has been very rewarding for me and I have gotten to make many new friends and experience what playing a sport for another school is like.”

As an athlete who has played basketball, volleyball, and lacrosse for Fulton, she knows what it's like to be a student athlete.

Roik is very grateful for the opportunity that both Oswego and Fulton have given her to play golf for a team. Any student from Fulton has the opportunity to join a nearby school's sports team as long as Fulton does not have its own team for that sport.

This also applies to students in nearby schools who can join Fulton Athletics. Students from Phoenix have joined Fulton’s varsity swim team and many students from other schools have joined Fulton’s varsity hockey team.
