In just two months, the Coronavirus has flipped the lives of millions upside down.

Raiders Reflect on Changes

By Leah O'Hanlon

As we are about to enter the eighth week of quarantine, it is hard to believe that just two short months ago everything was normal. No one would have ever guessed that this would have happened and now, many people are reflecting back on life before COVID-19 and thinking of the things they took for granted.

Junior Mackenzie Treneer was used to coming to school everyday, being able to laugh and hang out with her friends and walk through the crowded halls without giving it a second thought. Now, she is missing those times. She said, "I miss my friends more than anything. I didn't realize how much I took seeing them for granted until all of this started."

She is not alone in feeling this way, either. "I never thought I would want to go to school as much as I do right now. I definitely don't miss going to class, but I do miss my friends. It's so weird to think about being with a big group of people now even though a couple months ago I wouldn't think anything of it. As much as this sucks, I definitely will have gained a new sense of appreciation for little things like that when this is over," junior Noah Horning said.

Luckily for Mackenzie and Noah, they still have their senior year ahead of them to enjoy with their friends. Unfortunately, for the seniors at GRB the last couple months they had left with their friends are gone.

Senior Lei Yeh said, "I am honestly really upset that this is the way my last year of high school is ending. I wanted to be able to spend the little time I had left here with my friends and enjoying my senior year. I am disappointed that my senior sports season is not happening either. Everything happened so fast it seems. One day I was celebrating 100 days until graduation, and the next I was questioning if I will even get that graduation that I've been working for the last 12 years."
