LOTE Club Planning Trip to Montreal

By Ethan Abelgore

Students in the Languages Other than English (LOTE) Club are preparing to go to Montreal for a fun trip and an opportunity to explore a new culture.

The trip is March 13-15 in Montreal. Not only students in LOTE Club are going. Any student who is eligible to travel on the trip is welcome. LOTE teachers who arranged the trip are hoping for a minimum of 35 students to participate. It is $500.00 per student and deposits are being taken now until October 25.

There is a reason why they chose Montreal. French teacher Mrs. Honeywell said, "We chose Montreal because it is the second largest French speaking city in the world and it's only five hours away. It is a large, international city with the charm of Europe in its older sections."

There are loads of activities planned to do during the trip. They will visit the Notre Dame Cathedral, Old Montreal, the underground city of shopping and restaurants, McGill University, and an authentic Quebec sugar shack.

For Spanish students, there is a scheduled dinner show of flamenco dancing and music with a traditional Spanish paella. Also, students will visit an open air market, Marche Jean Talon, where kids will do a scavenger hunt of their language.

Once the money for the trip is turned in, it will pay for bus transportation, two nights in a hotel, breakfast and dinner, and scheduled attractions. Also, students do not need a passport to travel on the trip.

If you have any questions or are interested in going on the trip, contact Mrs. Honeywell, Ms. Coleman, Mr. Brown, or Mrs. Halladay for more information.
