For the second year in a row, a Fulton student won one of the top honors at the Battle of the Books competition. On Tuesday, March 12, senior Camille Stevenson competed against Phoenix, Sandy Creek, and Mexico. Sandy Creek placed first and Stevenson placed second. GRB librarian Mrs. Scalfaro was the teacher leader for Fulton and the event took place at Sandy Creek High School.
Stevenson read eight books and answered questions about them. The books she read were All American Boys by Jason Reynolds & Brendan Kiely, Caraval by Stephanie Garber, Farewell to Manzanar by Jeanne Houston, and The Leaving by Tara Altebrando.
She also read March: Book One by John Lewis, Scythe by Neal Shusterman, Two Old Women by Velma Wallis, and The Walk On by John Feinstein.
Stevenson said, “It was a lot of work, but in the end it really paid off because I found a lot of books that I enjoyed.”
The Battle of the Books website states, “Students read books and come together usually in groups to demonstrate their abilities and to test their knowledge of the books they have read.”
This is a great way for students to show their reading abilities. Congratulations, Camille!
