Football Wins League Championship

The football team took on the Jamesville Dewitt Rams in the league finals on Friday, October 25.

The Raiders played the Rams a few weeks before the league finals game and had a very close game. It came down to the very last second with Fulton winning the game 12-7. But this time, the score was very different, as Fulton beat them 28-0.

Not only did the Raiders win the league, but they were also the first team to win the league since 1974.

Fulton started out kicking off to the opposing team and JD could not move the ball on offense.

Fulton's defense was playing really well and had a few big stops, which put the offense in great field position.

In the first quarter, senior Camrin Galvin scored the Raiders' first touchdown of the game. As the Raiders went to kick the extra point, it was a bad snap and the Raiders' QB Cuinn Burlingham tried throwing a completion to Senior Michael Janaro in the end zone for the two point conversion, but it fell incomplete.

The Raiders ended up kicking the ball deep and made a quick tackle, no more than twenty yards on the return for the Rams.

Fulton's defense played really well. The score at halftime was 6-0 and the Raiders were up. The Raiders' offense did not do that well in the first half.

At the start of the third quarter, the Raiders received the ball and Senior Andru Walts had a 35-yard gain on the return.

Then freshman Sam Cotton, with about 10 minutes left in the third, scored another touchdown, which put the Raiders up 12-0.

The Raiders went for the two-point conversion. Burlingham threw a pass to freshman Sam Cotton and it was completed in the end zone. That put the Raiders up 14-0.

At the start of the fourth quarter, the Raiders scored two more touchdowns, which put them up 26-0.

Kicker Walts made both of the field goals, which put the Raiders up 28-0 with about six minutes left in the game.

Fulton played a very controlling game on offense and defense. They shut the JD Rams down from the very first play to the last.

Senior Ethan Hadcock received a plaque for being named MVP of the game. This title was chosen by the coaches.

Coach Mike Conners stated, "They all played great. The lineman stayed with their blocks and everyone executed their jobs. I am proud of each and every player on this team and how much they have developed in just one season."

Coach Halladay stated, "We had a game plan. We worked on it all week and executed it since the start of the game until the final whistle."

Senior Ian Bogardus said, "We played great and we all executed our jobs. We shut down their offense starting on the first series. Also, I am proud of my team for accomplishing something else that no other football team from Fulton has done since 1974."
