The Impact Coronavirus Has on Families

By Hailey LaClaire

Over these past few months, students have been stuck at home with their families. Due to this, many of us have been spending much more time with our families or the people that we live with. This is especially the case for those whose parents or guardians have been laid off work.

Personally, I have been spending quite a bit of time with my family at home and at the campground we visit. My parents are essential workers so they’re still working, but since I don’t go to school anymore, I see them much more often. The virus hasn’t directly impacted my family too much, but I cannot say the same for the families of other G. Ray Bodley students.

“I’ve been spending more time with my mom. We’ve been taking walks for my gym class together and talking more,” junior Damien Hickman said.

Senior Kayleigh LaBeef said, “My grandma and brother are usually home anyway, so the virus hasn’t really changed anything.”

Junior Evlynn Cappelletti said, “Because my mom is a teacher at the junior high, she’s always home now. I see her more often than I would have before.”

Whether this virus has impacted your family in a positive way, or a negative way, please still make sure to wash your hands whenever necessary. If you and your family have been having a hard time due to this virus, I sincerely hope that your situation will improve after everything eventually blows over.

Remember, stay positive and stay safe, GRB!
