G. Ray Bodley's annual fundraiser for Pennies For Patients began on March 13. The fundraiser is run by Student Senate and will take place for three weeks until the beginning of April.
Change bins were delivered to every Guided Study Hall. Change bins will be collected and counted after the conclusion of the fundraiser. The winning Guided Study Hall will receive a breakfast as an award for raising the most money.
Over 10 million elementary, middle, and high school students participate in this event every March. The funds collected during the fundraiser benefit The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society.
The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society's mission is to “Cure leukemia, lymphoma, Hodgkin's disease and myeloma, and improve the quality of life of patients and their families.” Their goal is to help blood cancer patients live "better, longer lives.”
Senior Shaylee Cealie said, “It’s a very easy way to collect money for such a worthy cause and I’m glad that Student Senate gets to be a part of this fundraiser."
“I really like that our school does so many things to support people in need whenever we can,” sophomore Gabby Tomarchio said.
Senior Student Senate President Jenna Ruzekowicz said, “Please donate in your Guided Study Hall. Support our local children battling cancer. Everyone needs a hero.”
