Swimmers Compete at States

By Michael Janaro

Freshman TJ Clayton and sophomore Tyler LaDue went to the state swimming competition on March 6 and 7.

Clayton swam a 55.54 in the 100 yard butterfly. Unfortunately, that was not fast enough to swim in the Top 30.

LaDue did make the Top Thirty. He swam a 1:00:53 in the 100 yard breast stroke.

Coach Lacey expressed how much it meant for him to have Clayton and LaDue making it that far. He stated, "It is the ultimate goal to make states. It means a lot."

Clayton is prepared for states next year from the experience he gained from this season. He said, "It was fun to meet new people. Definitely gave me a head start for what's to come in the next three years."

LaDue is also thankful for the opportunity. He said, "The experience at states is a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity and for me to go as a sophomore and Teddy to go as a freshman and just experience all of it was really moving. Going this year will push us to be better and better by our senior seasons."
