Wind Ensemble Celebrates Successful Performance

By Eric Shear

On Tuesday, May 21 the G. Ray Bodley Wind Ensemble traveled to Mexico Middle School to perform in Majors.

They played at 12:50 for two judges who would score them. The possible awards are Bronze, Silver, Gold, and Gold with Distinction.

They played level six music, which is the highest level a band can play. They played three songs. Those songs consisted of “Circus Days”, “Midnight on Main Street”, and “Symphonic Dance No. 3”.

The group received Gold recognition for their performance. They were the first group that played to receive a Gold award.

Senior Nick Brown stated, “I am pleased with a Gold. I think we could have earned a Gold with Distinction, but I am fine with a Gold.”

Senior Justin Hatch noted, “I thought our performance went really well. I am a little shocked that we did not earn Distinction, but it is what it is.”

Junior Alex Blaine added, “I truly think that was the best we have played some of those songs. I hope we can get higher than a Gold next year. However, Gold is perfect with me.”
