Girls Varsity Basketball Wraps Up Season

By Andru Walts

The varsity girls basketball team traveled to Indian River on February 22 to compete in their sectionals game and they put up a good fight. The Raiders were only down 10 at the half, but that didn't last long.

Sophomore Joann LeVea said, "The gap just continued to get bigger. The Indian River team was younger and had some really good players.”

Junior Devon Nicholson said, “We knew it was going to be a tough game, but we fought hard until the end and we hope for better results next year."

The team's record this season was 9-12.

The girls varsity team is still young and has many good junior varsity girls coming up and will be good for the next few years to come. They have a few stars and many good players. They also have great chemistry playing together, which makes the games easier.

Coach Lyons said, “Next season all depends on kids putting the work in for a good top four seed or we could just only make sectionals. It's all about how much work the girls put in."
