Recent Lockdown Drill Helps Students and Staff Prepare

By Cody Burmingham

Pictured is a student demonstrating one way to hide during a lockdown. Students and staff are supposed to go to the corner of the room that is not visible from the doorway and should remain still and quiet.

On January 16, G. Ray Bodley was put into a lockdown drill during the seventh bell of the day.

During the lockdown drill, the fire alarm was activated and this confused many students and staff members. Doing both of these drills at the same time left many wondering if it was not a drill.

When there is more than one drill or incident happening at once, a lockdown always overrides everything else. This is in case someone dangerous is trying to use the fire alarm to move students into the open.

Doing these drills at the same time helps prepare the school for what to do in an emergency.
