Life During Quarantine

By Tanner Vant

As I'm sure many people can agree, this quarantine has had an impact on their family. In my house there are four people, including my mom, younger brother, younger sister, and myself. Throughout the day my mother is non-stop working and teaching and has no free time until late in the afternoon. My brother and sister are going stir crazy. Everyone is on edge and irritable. Arguments and bickering become endless and the days all turn into one. Something that has helped me calm down and safely go out of the house is by going on sunset car rides.

Not all of the impacts have been negative, though. For example, my family has dinner all together and no one complains. I cook lunch and dinner for everyone frequently, my brother and I go on more bike rides, and now that I have a way to access it easier, school work is a breeze.

My family isn't the only one affected by the quarantine. Linda Middleton said, “The biggest thing is that we are stuck at home and can't go out and do anything. I'm working from home because they are only allowed to have three people in the office at a time. Now people also have to shop more mindfully and everything has just become that much more overall a pain in the back. But family wise we only have to find ways keep ourselves busy.”

Senior Lei Yeh stated, “I moved in with my sister as well as my other sister Annya had to have a baby in a hospital during quarantine. Being we can't see each other it's made it especially difficult for my sister trying to raise a baby alone without being able to go to get groceries.”

Junior Xavier Stoutenger stated, “ With the excess in time that I now have I've picked up working out again and started doing online classes for college.”

The quarantine has affected many people in many different ways and not all have been bad, but we all would like it to be over as soon as possible.
