GRB welcomes Ms. Soutar as our new ninth and tenth grade English teacher!
Ms. Soutar did not always want to be an English teacher. In fact, she started school at SUNY Cortland as a History Education major, but missed all the literacy and writing so she switched to be an English teacher instead.
"I thought I knew what Fulton was, like this was the little box it fits in, but I was interviewing and looking into the school and I realized I was so wrong," Ms. Soutar said.
"Her style of teaching really helps me in class and I feel really engaged every time I'm there," sophomore Ashton Gates said.
Ms. Soutar added, "I like it here so far. I've only ever worked in small schools and to be in a school where I have 100 plus students is an adjustment, but I really like it."
Growing up in Weedsport, Ms. Soutar loved to write short stories in her free time. Even though her older dog, Miley, and her new puppies, Charlie and Bella, take up most of her time, she still finds the time to work on writing a book. Her book is about her grandfather's struggle with mental illness and she is trying to tell their story.
Welcome to GRB, Ms. Soutar!
