Yearbook Impacted by COVID-19

By Andrew Smith

Each year, dedicated students, along with Mrs. Gates and Mrs. Honeywell, work to create the Fultonian Yearbook. However, the current pandemic has created complications. Below is a Q&A with Mrs. Honeywell to get everyone up to date.

How big is your Yearbook Club this year?

      • "The Fultonian had 10-15 members this year, some more active than others. We welcome all submissions of pictures and journaling from students, staff, and parents. Mr. Jones was a big help with contributing pictures this year. Our editor, Brandi Carr, dedicated a lot of time and effort to the book this year. Lilly Dumas joined the staff and submitted the cover idea. We had a good variety of sophomores/juniors/seniors to help but could really use more freshmen help next year."

When will the yearbook be completed?

      • "The final pages of the book were submitted on April 24. Each month we have a deadline to submit 20-30 pages. The printing plant in South Dakota closed for the month of April due to the pandemic, so books are delayed arriving in Fulton this year."

How and when will students receive their yearbook?

      • "Expected ship date is the last week of June. Distribution will depend on the phase of Oswego County at the time. Parents and students will be notified of the plan as soon as possible."

What struggles did the quarantine place on the production of the yearbook?

      • "Spring sports and other cancelled events left many unfinished pages at our final deadline. We did our best to cover the pandemic locally and its impact on the Fulton community. Herff Jones (our company) provided us with a few pages to document the impact of the pandemic on the country and the world. It was a challenge to pull together the last sections of the book. While many felt they were on a "coronacation", yearbook staff members were scrambling for pictures and ideas to fill the blank pages."

How many yearbooks are left for sale?

      • "There are 60 books left for sale. They can be ordered online HERE with our School Code 13715."

How long do students and parents have to order yearbooks?

      • "The price is $60 for a full color 180 page book. Books may be ordered until June 20. Any left over books may be purchased in the fall for the same price."

Mrs. Honeywell added, "I would like to remind everyone that the yearbook is designed and put together by the students. 600-700 hours of work went into this year's book. I urge anyone who wants to have a keepsake of the strangest school year in decades to pre-order ASAP. I believe we will sell out by the time they arrive in June."

If you would like to work toward making your yearbook perfect, participate in Yearbook Club. The more people on board, the better the yearbook will be.
