Now that the year is winding down, some of the students have been discussing what things will be like next year. This includes what things will be like in our cafeteria.
Two of our favorite cafeteria ladies, Ms. Trudy Mills and Ms. Carol Pecoy were kind enough to answer a few questions, giving us some feedback about this year. Comparing the beginning of the year with the end, they both enthusiastically agreed that the beginning is really the better part because they enjoy meeting the new students and getting back in touch with the ones they met the year before.
When asked their opinion on what was new or what worked this year, Ms. Mills said, "any type of chicken, especially our buffalo chicken pizza and our garlic grilled cheese."
When asked if there were any comments they would like to say to students, Ms. Pecoy said that in order to keep the lines moving faster and swifter, she would like to ask students to pay attention to what they are doing while they talk with each other. Specifically, they both would hope that the students next year have more patience while going through the lines and continue talking after they have passed through the line.
Senior Rosy Vazquez said that many of the ENL students need to take some time to learn the routine and the vocabulary of the food items before they can go by the cafeteria in the morning with confidence. Many times they are too embarrassed to ask about things like what happens if you want both the hot and the cold breakfast and how exactly do they charge for food. She said eventually, once you learn the correct vocabulary and you share with others what your worries are, the cafeteria experience here at GRB is great!
All in all, the ladies are very content with the way things went in the cafeteria this year. They are happy that so many students like the pizza and chicken and they are already excited and looking forward to the next school year.
