Dress Sale Hits the Halls of GRB

As most students, teachers, and parents know, school goes by very quickly after Spring Break, but that also means that Junior Prom and Senior Dinner Dance are right around the corner. The 14th Annual Dress Sale was held this week to help students get ready.

During the week of April 8, dresses were available in front of the auditorium during Guided Study Hall and all lunch bells. All dresses are free to ensure all students have equal opportunities to attend the dances. Any student attending either of the events was eligible to pick a dress. There were also shoes, some men's shirts, and some jewelry to choose from.

Although the dresses are free, students were encouraged to make a donation if possible and all the donations went right back into class funds.

Teen Health Issues Educator Chelsea Spier said, "Prom and Senior Dinner Dance are very important times in any high schooler's life so it is really important for anyone who wants a dress to get one. That's why we're here."

If students were unable to get a dress this week, there is no reason to worry. SAF Advocate Katie Petro said, "Dresses are available up until the Senior Dinner Dance. If any students need a dress, they can come see most members of the support staff."

Runaway and Homeless Youth Case Specialist Melissa Hurley said, "I am very hopeful it will happen again next year. We got some really great feedback from some students on how to make the dress sale better so I am excited to work on that for next year."

With the Prom and Senior Dinner Dance right around the corner, we would like to thank the GRB Support Staff and the GRB teachers who were able to make the dress sale happen. There truly are a lot of opportunities to be grateful for this time of year.
