On January 4, the Raiders took on the number five-ranked team, Spencerport.

The night started with an opening match between Oswego State and the Rochester Institute of Technology, with RIT beating Oswego 26-14.

The match between Fulton and Spencerport began at 160 pounds with senior Camrin Galvin receiving a forfeit. Next up at 170 pounds was senior Ian Bogardus getting a win, making the team score 9-0.

Spencerport went on to win the next five bouts making the team score 21-9.

Toward the end of the match, the team score was Spencerport 25 and Fulton 22 with junor Sam May up to wrestle. May was losing going into the last few minutes of the match, but suddenly put Spencerport's wrestler to his back and pinned him, which put the Raiders up 28-25 with only two matches left.

Going into the final match of the night the team score was tied at 28-28. Junior Cuinn Burlingham had to wrestle Spencerport's best wrestler, Mason Wersinger, who is ranked number two in the state. Burlingham and Wersinger battled it out for a great six minutes, but Burlingham fell short of a victory with Warsinger winning by a close 8-4 match and ending the meet with Spencerport winning over Fulton, 31-28.

Coach Mills said, "Saturday's match was very exciting. It came down to the very last bout with their best guy facing one of our best guys. Unfortunately, we lost the dual meet but we definitely put together a very entertaining evening for our community."

Coach Waldron said, "Sam May's match was a huge crowd-pleaser. Come from behind pins are what win state championships."

Senior Ian Bogardus said, "We are looking for revenge in February."

Up next for the Raiders is Eastern States for three wrestlers on January 11 and 12, while the rest of the team competes at VVS. Section Three Duals are the week of January 13.
