Teachers Surprise Seniors with Cap and Gown Delivery

By Andrew Smith

On Monday, April 27, teachers dropped off lawn signs, caps, and gowns to senior students.

Senior Class Advisor Mrs. Jennifer Killian drove to students' houses to make these deliveries with the help of Mrs. Parkhurst, Ms. Stephenson, Mr. Murray, Mrs. Kent, Mrs. Honeywell, Ms. Hough, Mrs. Thompson, Ms. Palmer, and Mrs. Bennett.

The teachers made over 220 stops to deliver these items to students.

Mrs. Killian said, "It was awesome to see so many seniors and their parents. There were a lot of good conversations. We miss everyone and we are very proud of you all! We will get through this together. I want to thank all the staff that helped make it a successful day."

Mrs. Killian added, "B&T Sports took care of everything for us - a huge thank you to them!"

French teacher Mrs. Honeywell said, "I miss the students so much. I just wanted to be able to connect with them somehow. It was great to see the parents and few kids that came out to get their signs. Everyone was very appreciative of the gesture and the words of encouragement we sent their way. Several of the stops on my route were former Seminar or French students or so those stops were especially rewarding for me. Hang in there, kids, brighter days ahead!"

Mrs. Parkhurst announced this plan during a weekly faculty "meeting" over Zoom.

Senior Vita Marie Dean was very excited to receive her cap and gown. She said, "It was a really kind gesture for teachers to go out of their way and personally deliver the caps and gowns. I'm really thankful for how much support everyone in the district is showing toward the seniors given everything that is going on."
