For the third quarter, 62.4% of GRB students met the 91% benchmark for attendance. One hundred eighty-three students achieved perfect attendance (100%), 269 students got exemplary attendance (96-99%), and 150 students attained commendable attendance (91-95%).

9th Grade

In the freshman class of 222 students, 41 students had perfect attendance, 76 students had exemplary attendance and 37 students had commendable attendance. Sixty-nine percent of freshmen met the GRB goal for an attendance rate of 91% or better.

10th Grade

Of the 271 sophomores, 74 students had perfect attendance, 73 students achieved exemplary attendance and 39 students attained commendable attendance. About 69% of the 10th grade class met the attendance rate goal of 91% or better.

11th Grade

The junior class of 214 students had 36 students with perfect attendance, 61 students with exemplary attendance, and 35 students with commendable attendance. About 62% of juniors have met the attendance rate goal of 91% or better.

12th Grade

In the senior class of 258 students there were 32 students with perfect attendance, 59 students with exemplary attendance, and 39 students with commendable attendance. Only 50% of the seniors met the attendance rate goal of 91% or better.

There are many good things to celebrate about the third quarter such as there were only 229 cases of truancy versus 357 last year at this time. In addition, there were only 11 cases of vandalism compared to 23 last year at this time. In-school suspension and out-of-school suspension cases are at a lower rate than they were at this time last year.

However, there are also some things GRB needs to work on. Technology violations made a huge spike from 11 this past year to 23 this year. Also, fighting had a significant increase from 15 last year to 24 this year.

One of the main issues here at GRB is students being late to classes. Even though this year has seen a decrease in tardies from 590 instances last year to 566 instances this year, tardies continue to cause issues as students are missing valuable class time.

Senior Shaylee Cealie said, “I’m glad to have third quarter over and am looking forward to my last quarter of high school heading toward graduation.”

“Third quarter was very busy, but productive. I can’t believe how fast the school year seems to be moving,” ENL Teacher Miss. Turley said.

Junior Gaby Ramirez Vasquez said,“Third quarter was difficult because there was a lot of work, but I got lots of help from my teachers and friends.”

Sophomore Wilder Reyes said, “It was very good and I got high honor roll!”

Finish the year strong, GRB!
