The girls varsity softball season has gotten off to a great start as they are currently sitting 2-0, winning their first game against Jordan Elbridge 9-2 and beating West Genesee 7-5 for their second win of the season.
On Tuesday, April 9, the Raider varsity softball team faced off against West Genesee at at home for their second game of the season.
The girls had to be mentally prepared to play the game in the serious winds and extremely cold weather. Every mistake counts, but the Raiders played as a family and picked each other up to come back for the win.
Junior Maddy Gilmore said, "We got off to a slow start going down by four, but we answered right back and got some huge hits, made some key plays in the field, and Camille pitched a great game. Nice win girls."
Junior Chloe Hurlbut said, "The dynamic within our team this season is one of the best I've experienced in a long time and it has shown in our first two games. We have a great season ahead of us."
Senior Leia Abbott said, "I feel the season so far is off to a good start. We have a long way to go, but I know if we put in enough effort we can go all the way. The game brought us together as a team, by being cuddled up in blankets to having a strong game mentally. Let's keep up the hard work."
Here's hoping the Raider girls keep it up!
