Cheerleaders Take Second at Leagues

By Dominic Fischel

On January 15, the girls cheerleading team took second place at their Leagues competition in Cortland.

The team competed against Central Square, ESM, Cortland, Oswego, and Auburn.

Since the team lost a few members, they made some revisions to their routine and they have had extended practices in order to better themselves so they can be in the best place to win Sectionals twice in a row.

"I think they did amazing given everything they've had to overcome this season. They truly worked together as a team and, in turn, had a great success at Leagues taking second place out of six teams. I could not have asked them for better results," Coach Greenier said.

The cheerleading team will be traveling to another competition this weekend in Copenhagen, NY, going up against eleven teams. The girls have been working hard in order to receive a better score than their last competition.

Junior Olivia Forsyth said, "Our team may be smaller this year than in years prior, but we have grown and cooperated better together as a team and in doing so it has gotten us this far. I am so excited to see where it takes us in the future."

The GRB cheerleading team will also have a home competition here at G. Ray Bodley on January 25. All are welcome. Raffle baskets and other apparel will be available for purchase.
